Strategic Study of CAE 2017, Volume 19, Issue 2,   Pages 43-49 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2017.02.007

Abstract:

In order to solve the problem of residents' difficulties in affording expensive medical treatment, we build a community-hospital concept model of a secondary medical service system, and establish a function model and a referral mechanism for patients' preferences. Taking Jiading District in Shanghai as an example, we make use of the AnyLogic system modeling software and demonstrate how this model can be used to study the effect of different medical cooperation modes and medical reform policies through the introduction of actual case data. Our results show that promoting the quality of primary medical care services and increasing the reimbursement ratio of medical insurance can effectively improve the efficiency of the whole medical service system.

A review on the forward osmosis applications and fouling control strategies for wastewater treatment

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2022, Volume 16, Issue 5,   Pages 661-680 doi: 10.1007/s11705-021-2084-4

Abstract: During the last decades, the utilization of osmotic pressure-driven forward osmosis technology for wastewater treatment has drawn great interest, due to its high separation efficiency, low membrane fouling propensity, high water recovery and relatively low energy consumption. This review paper summarizes the implementation of forward osmosis technology for various wastewater treatment including municipal sewage, landfill leachate, oil/gas exploitation wastewater, textile wastewater, mine wastewater, and radioactive wastewater. However, membrane fouling is still a critical issue, which affects water flux stability, membrane life and operating cost. Different membrane fouling types and corresponding fouling mechanisms, including organic fouling, inorganic fouling, biofouling and combined fouling are therefore further discussed. The fouling control strategies including feed pre-treatment, operation condition optimization, membrane selection and modification, membrane cleaning and tailoring the chemistry of draw solution are also reviewed comprehensively. At the end of paper, some recommendations are proposed.

Hybrid deep learning model for risk prediction of fracture in patients with diabetes and osteoporosis

Frontiers of Medicine 2022, Volume 16, Issue 3,   Pages 496-506 doi: 10.1007/s11684-021-0828-7

Abstract: The fracture risk of patients with diabetes is higher than those of patients without diabetes due to hyperglycemia, usage of diabetes drugs, changes in insulin levels, and excretion, and this risk begins as early as adolescence. Many factors including demographic data (such as age, height, weight, and gender), medical history (such as smoking, drinking, and menopause), and examination (such as bone mineral density, blood routine, and urine routine) may be related to bone metabolism in patients with diabetes. However, most of the existing methods are qualitative assessments and do not consider the interactions of the physiological factors of humans. In addition, the fracture risk of patients with diabetes and osteoporosis has not been further studied previously. In this paper, a hybrid model combining XGBoost with deep neural network is used to predict the fracture risk of patients with diabetes and osteoporosis, and investigate the effect of patients’ physiological factors on fracture risk. A total of 147 raw input features are considered in our model. The presented model is compared with several benchmarks based on various metrics to prove its effectiveness. Moreover, the top 18 influencing factors of fracture risks of patients with diabetes are determined.
